Casual And Chic Summer Tops - Just Style LA

Summer officially starts next Tuesday and with the weather already getting hotter, we all tend to want to dress more casual to stay cool. But just because you want to stay cool and casual doesn’t mean you can’t be stylish and chic at the same time. With the hotter weather we all tend to wear more tops with shorts and skirts and do not need as much layering.

However, you can still wear a nice light weight sweater, jacket, vest, poncho or kimono over your top especially at night or inside air conditioned spaces. A lot of times these cover up pieces can be just what you need to make your outfit more stylish and chic.

Today I am debuting two new tops for you that are both casual, fun and easy to wear for summer. They are both made out of soft knit fabrics and are super comfortable and easy to wear. But they both have interesting details so they are not just a basic top. Both can be worn with shorts, jeans or skirts, like I have done today for a fun summer look.

In my first look I am showing you the ivory criss cross top which is made out of a soft rayon lycra in an easy and loose body that is quite long. I chose to tuck mine into my skirt, but you can see the length of the top in our shop pictures. The main detailing is the criss cross band in the front neckline which is currently trending on a lot of tops and dresses. This top works really nicely with our Geometric Print Kimono with Fringe which is the perfect soft and light weight summer cover up.

This piece is a great example of how a summer cover up can make your simple outfit pop and be more stylish. It is made out of a beautiful soft printed fabric and has a trendy fringe detail in the bottom. It also has a thin self belt which is optional.

As for a necklace, I am excited to introduce a new Gold and Blue Shell Clover Necklace Set. As you know we have done a few of these clover necklace sets and every time we sell out of them quickly because they are so popular. This piece is really pretty and works great with this outfit.

For the second look, I am wearing our tan ivory stripe top with lace trim. This top is really fun with beautiful feminine details. The body is also loose and easy and the sleeve hits right above the elbow. It looks great left out but you can also tuck in the front a little bit to show some shape. You can see how I did that in one of the photos toward the end of todays style feature. I chose not to wear the necklace with this top because of the lace trim in the front. If you are going to wear a necklace with it, it should be short and dainty, or you can always do earrings.

As you can see I wore both tops with my denim skirt but they would both look great with shorts or jeans as well. I finished off my look with cognac platform sandals and bag.

How do you like my looks?

Denim skirt – Seven for all mankind (old)

Platform sandals – Zara

Bag – YSL
