A Day In Malibu Wearing Our Canary Yellow Vest
I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July weekend. We as you know chose to stay in town and relax at home. We did, however, take a day trip to Malibu on the Sunday and went to the Malibu Pier for a late lunch at the Malibu Farm, which is a great café and restaurant there. The restaurant is located at the beginning of the pier and the cafe at the other end of the pier; both offer wonderful simple tasteful dishes, outdoor seating and beautiful views of the ocean. As soon as you walk on to the pier and make your way to the end where the Malibu Farm cafe is located, you get that feeling you are on a holiday at some exotic beach.
For many people who are visiting from out of state or other countries, that is exactly what Malibu is about. For us though, who live only an hour away, we tend to forget how nice it is until we go back. We chose to eat lunch at the restaurant, sitting outside on a comfortable couch with a sea breeze, sunshine and views of the Santa Monica bay and Catalina. The food and drinks were excellent and I especially enjoyed my watermelon mimosa and my coconut, carrot cake with fresh cream which was to die for. All their food is locally sourced from fresh organic producers and I can highly recommend this place if you are ever in the area.
For a day at the beach I wanted to be comfortable and cool but stylish at the same time. I wore my denim shorts and an ivory camisole top with my gladiator sandals. This was a good base to start with; next I wanted to add an element of style/trend and a pop color. I chose to add our Canary yellow vest, turquoise and brown necklace and gold plated turquoise earrings. I loved mixing the yellow and the turquoise as my pop colors with the denim and ivory base.
As a styling tip, you can do this with any outfit. When you start with a neutral base, it is so easy to add a bright color vest, jacket or cardigan and a few pieces of jewelry and this automatically takes your outfit to the next level.
