How To Dress During Transitional Months
We still have a few more weeks of summer. In fact the official “Fall Equinox” date is September 22nd. But for a lot of us, Labor Day Weekend is the last hooray for summer and after that we are ready for fall. Having said that a lot of of us are lucky enough to live in places that experience warm weather until end of September and sometimes even into October for California.
These transitional periods can be tricky for one’s wardrobe. Most of us are done buying summer clothes but may not be quite ready to buy all of our fall wardrobe yet.
Today I wanted to share with you a few tips on what to wear during the upcoming transitional months.
- Wear Lighter weight fabrics but in darker colors.
- Layer a light weight jacket over your summer top or dress.
- Add a scarf that is not too heavy.
- Wear mules or pumps if you are not quite ready for boots.
These are just a few tips but they all apply to the outfit I am showing you today. We have just added a new Ivory blouse to our shop that is very pretty and feminine, it is our Ivory Blouse with Lace Trim on the Shoulders. It is made out of a soft rayon fabric and it has elbow length flutter sleeves. Elbow length or three quarter length sleeves are a great design feature in a blouse especially for transitional months. They are not too summery and bare yet they are not long sleeve and heavy either. This is a great blouse that you can wear to work or any other occasion.
Today I am wearing the blouse with my ripped black jeans and our Olive Jacket with Drawstring Belt. This is a great transitional jacket as the color is dark enough for fall yet the fabric is light weight that you can wear it now. It has an easy body and you can wear it belted or loose.
As for the accessories, I am showing you two different options. The first one is a light weight scarf which can also be worn as a neck scarf since it is a square scarf. It is made out of 100% silk fabric and has a fun bird print in beautiful transitional colors. Bird prints have been trending for a while and I love this one because it is subtle and it is mixed with leaves and branches. I wore it three different ways for you in the photos below:
- As a triangular shape hanging in the front
- As a neck scarf tied around my neck
- Tied around my bag’s handle
There are many other ways you can wear it as well which you can see examples of in our product page.
The second accessory is two vintage inspired pearl necklaces from our shop that I have combined together. I have shown you this set before and we only have a few pieces left in each one. I love how they work as a set with this ivory blouse. In case the scarf is not for you the necklaces are another way to accessorize this look.
I finished off my look with my black Gucci mules and bag and a belt for some of the looks in case you want to tuck the blouse in.
