How To Look Stylish For The Weekend Using The Three Piece Rule
How To Look Stylish For The Weekend Using The Three Piece Rule
I don’t know if you have ever heard of the “three-piece rule” in dressing. It is a concept used by some stores and stylists to make an ordinary outfit more interesting. It basically means your top and bottom pieces are your first and second items and the third item which can be a jacket, vest, shawl, scarf or jewelry is meant to make your outfit more interesting. Your shoes and bag do not count as part of this equation. Personally I agree with this rule and use it myself all the time. I think it becomes even more important on the weekends especially over spring and summer when we tend to layer less items.
It is so easy to just throw on jeans and a t shirt and run out the door especially during the weekend and there is nothing wrong with that. But if you just stop and add a necklace or a jacket or scarf, you will see what a big difference that one piece can make. Of course you can add fourth or fifth pieces as well, the idea is just to get out of the boring two-piece look.
Today I wanted to share with you a couple of casual weekend looks that are chic and stylish applying the “three-piece rule”. As you will see in my photos, I started out with my jeans and a new Coral Cold Shoulder Top with Lace Trim that we have just added to our shop. It is a beautiful color and the cold shoulder does not reveal too much so anyone can wear it even if you are not a big fan of cold shoulder tops.
Even though the top and the jeans look really nice together, I always feel I need a third element hence the “three-piece rule”. For the first look I added our Gold and Abalone Shell Clover Necklace Set and that already made a big difference in the outfit. We have had this necklace for a couple of weeks and have re-ordered it once already so it is one of our best-sellers.
For the second look today, I wanted to add a casual jacket since it was a weekend look. So I added our brand new Taupe Hooded Cargo Jacket which is a perfect light weight casual jacket for spring. Not only is it a comfortable piece but it is also a fashionable piece that takes your outfit to the next level.
If you are not a big fan of cargo jackets and want more of a fun statement piece, I am also showing you our Geometric Print Belted Kimono with Fringe Trim which you can throw over any jean and t shirt and it transforms it into a hip and trendy look. This kimono has a traditional “kimono sleeve” as you can see in the pics, making it even more unique and special.
I do want to mention that this kimono can look just as good dressed up over a dress or skirt with heels for a night out.
All four pieces I am showing you today are part of our Weekend Flash Sale where you can get 15% off with code FS325 plus Free US Shipping. Limited quantities as usual so do not wait.
