Mixing Patterns With Herringbone And Leopard

For today’s look, I am mixing a couple of interesting patterns together. The first pattern is a herringbone, which is the fabric that our new Scott Herringbone Blazer is made from and this is a classic for sure. It is actually a very popular pattern, especially for blazers, jackets and coats especially for fall.

Without getting too deep into it, here is a short history of this pattern and its origins.

The design of the herringbone pattern is a V-shaped zig-zag and it is used for fashion and interior design. It actually dates back to the Roman Empire where it was used in road paving systems and also in the textiles and jewelry design of ancient Egyptian elite.

Its name and design literally comes from the layout of the bones of a herring fish which is very similar to the diagonal lines of this pattern.

Our new Scott Herringbone jacket is made with a beautiful gray/black herringbone combo fabric. The body is uniquely shaped and it has an interesting notch collar that is a little different from the traditional notch collar.

It has two buttons in the front and long sleeves with gray faux suede elbow patches. It is fully lined in black lining and has small shoulder pads.

With such a beautiful and classic fabric pattern, I really wanted to bring in a couple of other patterns to mix and match to get a chic fall look. So, I decided to style the blazer with our new leopard print shirt.

This Ivory Black Red Leopard Print Shirt is a fun and trendy new addition to our top section. The background fabric is ivory, and the playful leopard print is a mix of black and red.

The body is loose, with the sides slightly shorter than the front and back. It has traditional shirt sleeves with a cuff and button and the mandarin collar in the front is finished with a placket and small buttons.

For accessories today, I added our Red Black Ivory Polka Dot Square Scarf, which adds two more patterns to this whole look with its dots and stripes. This is a great example of pattern mixing and this all works perfectly together for me.

As for jewelry I added our Black Bead and Tassel Necklace and our Gunmetal Gray Black and Gold Bead Bracelet.

Because today’s look is a great combination of black/gray/ivory/red, I thought this would be a great opportunity to throw in our brand-new Black Cashmere Blend Pull On Poncho which we have just added to our store.

A few weeks ago, I styled these cashmere pull on ponchos in camel and ivory and they were a big hit. In fact, we had to restock the camel color once already. That is why I wanted to add the black color which is another great option for fall.

You can see the Camel color Poncho here and the Ivory Poncho here.

I wore all these pieces with my black skinny jeans, black mules and red Gucci cross body bag as a pop of color.

All six pieces I am showing you today are part of our 24-HR Flash Sale where you can get 15% off with code FS924
