Our Summer Vacation Part One Prague

Today, as promised, I am sharing with you a quick recap of our trip to Prague, which has some of the most picturesque architectural landmarks in Europe. It is a beautiful city with a rich history and a definite “must-see” in my opinion.

We stayed at Hotel Augustine, a luxury collection hotel, which dates back to 1284 and is centrally located in the heart of Prague in the Mala Strana district between the Prague Castle and the Charles Bridge. The hotel consists of 7 historic buildings with the most important being the 13th century Augustinian St Thomas Monastery, after which the hotel is named. Several practicing monks actually still live in a separate part of the hotel that is still a monastery and they still brew a special beer called St Thomas that my husband enjoyed that has been brews there since 1352.

I loved this hotel and the location is perfect too as it is close to all the sites of Prague including the main Old Town Square which tends to be too busy and loud if you stay in that area. You can see the link to the web site of the hotel here.

There are so many beautiful sites to see in Prague. We were only there for 3 days, so we tried to cover as many places as we could. Some sites were also closed for renovations which was disapointing that included the Clementinium Library which we really wanted to see. Below is a list of all the places we did see which are some of the most popular ones.

  1. Charles Bridge
  2. Prague Castle
  3. Old Town Square where the following sites are located: Church of Lady before Tyn, St Nicolas Church, Astronomical Clock
  4. Wenceslas Square
  5. Strahov Monastery
  6. Petrin Tower
  7. Jewish Quarter
  8. St Vitus Cathedral
  9. Wallenstein Palace (which was next door to our hotel)
  10. Dancing House by Frank Gehry
  11. 3 hour Evening Dinner Cruise On The Vltava River Seeing All The Sites At Night.

The weather for the first two days was very nice, but the third day it rained off and on and that was the night we had made reservation for the river tour and dinner cruise on Prague’s Vltava River, which I highly recommend. Even though it was pouring rain outside, we still had a really nice time and it was amazing to see the city at night.

As for what I wore, I tend to over pack in all my trips, but I am glad I had taken a few jackets as they came in handy especially in Prague. Below you can see my outfits for each day and night. At night I would just change into a dress and take a sweater or shawl with me if necessary. I managed to wear a few Jacket Society tops and jackets there which was nice. As for shoes I took a couple of sandals, sneakers and two platform sandals as they are easier to walk in them on cobble stone streets.

All the Jacket Society pieces I wore during this trip are part of our Weekend Flash Sale where you can get 15% off with code FS85 plus free US Shipping, $25.00 flat rate for all international shipments. These are the JS pieces I wore that are featured on our sale:
