Take A Look At Our New Spring Jacquard Joy Jacket - Just Style LA

I have just finished production on some of my new spring / summer jackets that I designed recently and I will be showing them to you all in upcoming blog stories.

Today, I want to introduce one of my favorites so far called the Joy Jacquard jacket. This beautiful, lightweight floral jacquard is the perfect jacket for spring and cool summer evenings and as you can see it looks great with jeans, but it will work with variety of other bottoms as well, which I will show you in another story.

In order to debut this pretty, feminine women's jacket, I wanted to photograph it somewhere unique and special that felt right to show off the stunning jacquard fabric it is made from. I have wanted to do a photo shoot at the Brand Library and Art Center near my home for a while because it has striking buildings with many unique features and nice surrounding grounds. It is located in Brand Park, high in foothills of Glendale, California.

The Brand Library is an art and music center with a separate art gallery where different art shows and displays are exhibited throughout the year. The library is housed in a mansion that was built in 1904 by Leslie C Brand and it was named El Miradero (the Overlook). The architecture is a combination of Spanish, Moorish and Indian style and Nathaniel Dryden who was the brother in law of Brand designed it. The art gallery and recital hall were added later in 1969. It was closed recently for two years for an extensive $10 million renovation that was completed in 2014 and they did a fantastic job.

The Library also holds a special place in my heart because years ago when my son was 3 or4 years old, I used to take him here there for kids “mommy and me” art classes. I am not sure if those classes are still offered as it was such a long time ago, but I have very fond memories of painting with him in the library and playing in the park afterwards. This is another reason why I wanted to share this incredible building and grounds with you.

I have styled my Joy jacket with my wide leg jeans and even though the first color that comes to mind for a top to wear with this jacket is white, cream or off white (which will work perfectly with it), I wanted to do a brighter color. I love this yellow peasant top that I have had for a while and since yellow is such a trendy color for this spring, I thought it would look perfect for this outfit.
