A Casual And Stylish Look For My Visit To The Griffith Observatory

The weather has been great in Los Angeles lately. We have not yet experienced the unbelievable heat that often hits us at this time of the year. Last weekend we decided to visit the Griffith Park Observatory, which is really close to where we live, but unfortunately we had not been there in many years. Sometimes you forget the great sites and places that are right under your nose.
The Griffith Park Observatory is located on Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park. It offers a planetarium, exhibits, public telescopes, café and bookstore and the best views of the Los Angeles basin. These amazing views were the main reason we decided to go up there on this glorious, sunny and clear day. Let me tell you, we were not disappointed. Since it was a pretty clear day, we could see the Hollywood sign and we could see all the way down to the ocean. You can walk around and explore or even bring a blanket and lounge on the grass and enjoy the day. I am sure it is amazing at night and we are planning to go back for a nice evening visit this summer. I highly recommend it as one of the places to visit if you are heading to Los Angeles.
For this visit I wanted to be casual and comfortable yet stylish. I have always loved vests, even though you don’t find many of them for women in the stores. In the past I have had to buy men’s vests in extra small sizes and had to alter them in order to wear them myself. They are such a great substitute for jackets during summer so I am glad there are more of them in stores this year and that they have become a big trend. I ended up wearing my Zara moto vest that I love with some tan color jeans and my fab gladiator sandals. There is a story behind these gladiator sandals and I will try to make it short. I have always loved gladiator sandals, way before they became a big trend. I bought these about five years ago from Juicy Couture and they were actually tall gladiators that came all the way below my knee. After wearing them a few times, I realized that for my height (I am 5’4”) they were a bit much and decided to have them shortened a few inches by my favorite shoe repair place. Voila these gladiator sandals were created. I can’t tell you how many times I have been complemented on them and have been asked where I got them and I have had to explain this story.
What are your thoughts on wearing vests and gladiator sandals?

Moto Vest – Zara
Tan jeans – Rag and Bone
Tank top – Foreign Exchange
Gladiator Sandals – Juicy Couture (old and altered)
Bag – Gucci
Belt – Gucci
Sunglasses – Ray ban
