A Garden Party Dinner In Downtown Los Angeles

Last weekend we were invited to a garden party dinner in downtown Los Angeles at my friend Jan McCarthy’s beautiful loft at the Eastern Columbia Building in downtown Los Angeles. Jan is a multi-talented woman, she is an entrepreneur, blogger, interior designer and painter just to name a few. When I received this invitation from Jan I knew it was going to be a memorable night. In her invitation she mentioned this was going to be a Pop-up dinner, prepared and cooked by her friend Zoe Howell. I had met Zoe at Jan’s Entrepreneurial monthly meetings and I was looking forward to tasting her amazing food. Zoe’s company is called Pollen + Nectar and her menus are inspired by fresh organic garden vegetables (from a garden she has created with other residents from the Eastern Columbia Building in the upper parking lot) The garden is an organic and biodynamic environment, and she has grown 35 varieties of vegetables in a space the size of a parking lot this season. Proof, that with careful planning, maximum returns can be achieved in small space. Zoe loves to create, succulent main dishes, and divine deserts all sourced from local farmers whenever possible. Her “Pop-Up” garden suppers are her latest concept to create new and interesting menus for invited diners most of whom have never met but leave feeling as if they’ve just shared an incredible time with longtime friends. Pollen + Nectar is also in the process of expanding its garden salad delivery concept. Where she incorporates market fresh ingredients to create.

Needless to say the evening was a big hit, it was an incredible culinary experience and the food was absolutely delicious. We started the night with cocktails and appetizers on the roof of the Eastern Columbia building with beautiful views of downtown LA. Then we were all treated to an informative tour of Zoe’s organic garden from Zoe herself. Then last but not least we were taken to my friend Jan’s beautiful penthouse where she had set up an amazing dinner table for all of us to sit and enjoy. It was just perfect and we saw some old friends and met some new ones. Below you can see some pictures.
For this special dinner party I decided to wear my brand new blazer, graphic tee, and waxed skinny jeans from Zara that I purchase a couple of weeks ago. Normally I never wear the same brand from head to toe, but somehow this whole look worked so well together so I couldn’t resist. I love this structured blazer for the beautiful pleated shoulders that give it an architectural and structured look. As far as the graphic tee, you probably already know I have been into this graphic tee look under blazers for a couple of months now.
