More Tips On Transitional Dressing Into Fall
Last week I wrote about transitional dressing and how I incorporate some spring pieces into my fall outfits. Well I wanted to continue on the same idea this week and talk a little bit more about the “transitional season” which is actually a “big” season here in Los Angeles.
I found this geometric print soft jacket at Forever 21, of all the places, a week ago. I was drawn to it for two reasons, one was the geometric print which is a big trend for fall 2014, and second was the draping and asymmetrical shape. Normally I wear prints as a top more under jackets because I can never find a good printed jacket that I like, I really understand prints are very personal and it’s hard to find universal ones that everyone will like. So when I saw this in the store, I really liked the pattern and color combination. I also liked the fact that it was like a soft women’s jacket, and because it was in a dark fallish color combo, it made for a great transitional piece. I decided to purchase it and sure enough it gave me the idea of making it a kind of part two to last weeks story so i could give you a couple of more pointers about transitional dressing.
1. Find a light weight jacket or sweater to throw on but in a darker fall color. Even if it’s still 80 degrees outside you can have your soft jacket on and not be too hot but if it’s in a fall color you will still be dressed season appropriately.
2. Get a printed piece but in a dark fall color combo, it can be a soft jacket or a blouse you can wear open and layer. The print can be a dark color way but the fabric can still be light so you don’t feel hot but you look like you have transitioned into fall.
3. Use fall color jewelry with fall color gemstones like amber, topaz or jade and metals like antique gold, silver or copper.
I hope these tips are helpful to you and I would love to hear some of your ideas about transitional dressing.
