My New Years Visit To Coronado And La Jolla - Just Style LA

As I mentioned in my blog story earlier this week, we had a quick getaway to San Diego last weekend for New Years. I talked about what we did the first day and for New Year’s Eve and what I wore.

Friday was New Year’s Day, which was a beautiful sunny day, so we decided to drive over to the Hotel Del Coronado and spend a day enjoying the sights and take a walk by the beach while doing a photo shoot for the blog.

The Hotel Del Coronado is a wonderful historic beachfront hotel in the city of Coronado, just across the San Diego Bay from downtown San Diego. It is a Victorian hotel built in 1887, and one of America’s largest wooden buildings. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977. Since then the resort has become a living legend, visited by celebrities, dignitaries and even some U.S. presidents. It was even a movie location for the 1959 “Some Like it Hot” starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon.

Speaking of movies, I am really looking forward to the Golden Globes this Sunday and will be watching the fashions very closely and hoping some of my favorite movies and actors win awards. Anyway getting back to the Hotel Del Coronado, we had a lovely time walking around, having coffee and taking photos. I was very surprised that they actually had an ice skating ring right in front of the beach, which looked like a lot of fun; So California! It was a really nice day out and we ended up having dinner at Il Fornaio over by the ferry landing on Coronado Island with stunning views of Downtown San Diego across the bay which was so nice.

The next day it was time to head back home to Los Angeles, but not before a stop in La Jolla beach for lunch. I had been to La Jolla a few times and always loved it. It is known as the “The Jewel” of San Diego, since it features so many luxury homes, fine dinning and upscale shopping. But the real jewels of La Jolla are its beaches, cliffs and coves which are breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful. We had a delicious late lunch at Eddie V’s Prime Seafood with amazing views of the cove and the beach. It was a great way to end our trip.

I have included a few pictures of my Saturday “La Jolla”outfit at the end below. I wore the same skinny jeans, grey sweater, Zara jacket and another one of our best selling scarves.

Have you been to the Hotel Del Coronado or La Jolla and what do you think of my look?
