Fall 2017 Trend Alert Velvet - Just Style LA

You may have already heard or even seen in stores that “velvet” is a big trend for fall 2017. Actually velvets and velvet burnouts started trending last fall but sometimes it takes a while for a trend to go mainstream and I think by this fall velvet will be in everyone’s closet. What I love about this trend is how it is now being shown as a day time fabric and not just for dressy pieces. We all know velvet is a beautiful fabric for evening but now it is time to start wearing it for daytime as well.

Today I am debuting our Mocha Velvet jacket which is a made of a really pretty soft and washed velvet which gives the jacket a worn vintage look. It is combined with a vintage inspired floral print lining to make the jacket even more special. It looks great with the sleeves folded up to show a little bit of the lining which I have done in some of the photos below. I have intentionally shown the jacket open once as well, so you can see the detailed print of the lining which is so fun. The body is semi shaped with two welt pockets, a stand collar with fold back lapels and two buttons.

I was lucky to find a great scarf that works really well with this jacket. This scarf is made of a crinkled fabric and has beautiful color combination of brown, grey, mauve and ivory in an abstract print. That is why I chose to do a mauve color top for this look.

Since the criss cross neckline detail has been trending I decided to repeat this tshirt but this time do it in a three quarter sleeve since we are now in fall and sleeve lengths are getting longer.

The fabric is a really nice soft quality rayon modal and the body is long. I have tucked it in for today’s look, so make sure to check out the shop photos for the length left out. The color is a pretty mauve that mixes very well with the mocha jacket and picks up the mauve part of the printed scarf.

As for jewelry, I chose to do an earring for a change. I chose these really pretty Gold Tone Clover and Pearl Earrings with Chain Fringe which are now available in our shop.

I styled all these pieces with a brand new pant I bought from Banana Republic last month that I love. It is called Ryan-Fit Luxe Brushed Twill Sailor Pant and it is in a dark wash denim fabric. It is a clean fit and more like a trouser than a denim pant and it is finished off with buttons on the two sides hence making it a sailor pant. I finished the look with my Gucci pumps and YSL tan bag.

Will you be wearing some velvet this fall and how do you like my look?
