How To Mix Patterns For Fall
Fall is a great season for mixing different patterns. One of my favorite ways to mix patterns is to take a classic one like houndstooth and mix it with a trendy one like leopard and that is exactly what I have done for today's look.
Before I get into talking about the outfit, here are the two main points to keep in mind when mixing patterns together.
- Make sure the patterns are two different sizes.
- The patterns should have at least one color in common.
Fall is the perfect season for houndstooth patterns so today I have a new boyfriend blazer in this chic and classic pattern for you.
It is made from a small houndstooth pattern in the color combo of tan/brown/black. The collar is in a nice contrasting brown velvet. It is single breasted with one button in the front which is also made out of a brown velvet.
The body is a bit oversized and that is why I am calling it a boyfriend blazer. It has two welt pockets in the front, and it is fully lined in a brown lining.
I am wearing it with another new rayon jersey top we have just added to our shop. This one is in a nice tan color that has a round neck and long sleeves. It is a great neutral color for fall that will work with lots of outfits.
For a scarf I am wearing one of our all-time best-selling scarves that we keep re-stocking. Our Black Taupe Ivory Leopard Scarf has been such a popular item and if you don’t have one yet I suggest you get it as it really is a the perfect scarf.
This is where I am mixing the two patterns of the houndstooth and the leopard together. As you can see the houndstooth pattern is a lot smaller and they both have similar colors, so they work really well together.
I finished off my look today with our Gold Chain and Champagne Beads Necklace with Gold Pendant.
