How To Style A White Shirt To Make It More Modern
White shirts have become such a classic and staple item in our wardrobes. I’m pretty sure as women we all own or have owned at least one white shirt in our lifetime. Today I have taken one of our white shirts from the store and I have styled it a few different ways for you to show you how you can modernize this classic item.
Let me start by telling you a little bit about this white shirt which I have styled for you before. This shirt is made from a nice soft textured medium weight fabric, so it is not sheer or too thin.
The body is semi loose and easy with a collar and small buttons in the front. It has long sleeves with cuffs but it also has a tab so you can roll up the sleeves for a three-quarter length look. I wore the sleeves long under the sweater below and rolled them up for the sweater vest look so you can see it both ways.
For the first look today, I am wearing our new Mocha V Neck sweater we just added to our store. This sweater is made with a nice soft yarn, and it is medium weight so it is perfect to wear now but you can easily take it into spring. It has a V neck and traditional ribbed details in the bottom and cuffs. It also has a side slit on each side.
Since the sweater is a bit shorter than the shirt, I decided to leave the shirt out so it hangs out from under the sweater. I think this is a great modern way to wear a sweater and shirt combo. I also pulled the shirt cuffs out a little bit to show from under the sweater sleeves.
For the second look today, I have style a new sweater vest that we just added to the online store. It is our new Tan V Neck Long Sweater Vest. As you know vests are currently trending and they will still be trending going into spring for sure. This one is a bit oversized and long, with the back being longer in length than the front. The bottom is finished with nice ribbing details, and it has two side slits on each side. For this look I tucked in the shirt for a cleaner look.
For accessories for these looks, I decided to go with a neck scarf and I have styled it a different way for each look.
- For the sweater and shirt look, I have wrapped it around my neck twice and knotted it in the front.
- For the sweater vest and shirt look, I have wrapped it around my neck twice and knotted it on the side.
- For the shirt look on its own, I have worn it as a triangle in the front where you can push it into the shirt collar or leave it out.
For jewelry I am wearing our trendy Gold Tone Evil Eye Drop Earrings.
Booties - Mango
Bag - Louis Vuitton
Sunglasses - MVMT
How do you like my look?

Just because I have MS doesn’t mean I can’t look classy. Size 8 jeans, white shirt, camel cashmere sweater and Hermes scarf and salt and pepper bob. And I am 70 yrs!

I LOVE this look ! Classic with a trendy edge.
The two sweater ensembles are the perfect look for a middle aged woman, not frumpy and not trying too hard to look younger.
The hair, the jewelry, the clothes say “class”.
