Mixing Patterns With Our Gypsy Print Top And Milano Blazer
I have always loved wearing blazers with shorts especially during spring and summer. This time of the year shorts are the perfect bottom to take the place of pants. When you wear shorts with blazers, it automatically gives the blazer a more laid back and less serious look, the same way jeans do. Depending on the length of the shorts, you can wear this look to the office as well. Longer shorts being perfect for the office and shorter ones for going out to parties or dates.
When I was thinking about what outfit to show you for this look, I decided to use our Milano blazer with black shorts as an example and soon after I realized our Gypsy print top works perfectly with the Milano blazer. The two pieces were designed and produced at different times and I had not realized how well the two patterns compliment each other. I love mixing patterns and prints together but they do have to work together to get the best effect. There are a few rules I go by when mixing patterns and they are:
- The two patterns have to be different in size.
- They need to have at least one color in common.
- Preferably they should be different kind of patterns but occasionally the same pattern works only if they are different in size.
All of these points apply to the patterns of the Milano blazer and the Gypsy print top and that is why they work so well together. This was the perfect opportunity for me to style the Gypsy black and white print top again which I debuted for the first time here. This top has been a best seller for us and we have only a few left. It works perfectly on its own as well as you can see in some of my photos below. I also added one of our necklaces that has an Ivory marbleized stone and a gunmetal chain so it works perfectly with black and white looks.
