The Soho Jacket
A few months ago I wrote about one of my all time favorite jackets that I had designed which was originally inspired by a kimono jacket, under the title “my favorite jacket”. A while back I had this jacket made in a cute textured fabric and I wore it a lot and always got alot of compliments about it. Recently when I was coming up with jacket designs for my “Jacket Society” label I decided to include this jacket silhouette in some new fabrications. The main reason for repeating this silhouette was of course the big trend of looser and oversized shapes happening for spring 2013 and now even into fall 2014 as well.
I love the shape and especially the sleeve treatment of this jacket. It is a very unique cut that gives you that cocoon and fuller shape. This is a piece you really need to wear with a slimmer bottom, like cigarette pants or skinny jeans or a slim pencil skirt. It also looks best with a tighter fitting top underneath. In my opinion this rule applies to any over sized womens jackets, blazers or coats. Slimmer and tighter looks better under bigger outerwear silhouettes. Here I am wearing it with my favorite Rag and Bone skinny black jeans and some new sandals I just bought. Some great jewelry and a fun faux fur bag and I were good to go.
I would love to hear what you think of the “Soho Jacket”?
