Our Jackson Pollock Inspired Print Jacket
About a month ago I did a blog story about printed jackets and at the time I mentioned that I was working on putting together some new print jackets for my women’s jacket collections. Well, I am super excited to say that two new print jackets have arrived and are now available on our web site along with two new similar jackets in solid colors. Over the last few days we have been busy photographing and uploading the new jackets to the website for today’s launch and over the next few weeks I will be styling each jacket here on my blog like I usually do.
When I was shopping for printed fabrics and I saw this print, I immediately thought of Jackson Pollock, who is one of my favorite painters of all time. As you probably know, he was an influential American painter and a major figure in the “abstract expressionist” movement. His unique style of painting was called “drip painting” and that is exactly what the print of this jacket reminds me of. I really love the beautiful mix of colors that consist of navy, blue, white with a touch of red and coral. The Pollack jacket silhouette is shaped with a cascading soft collar that drapes in the front and is such an easy piece to wear with almost anything.
Last weekend when we were going out to dinner in Pasadena I decided to wear the Pollock jacket. I knew it would look great with denim or anything navy, but because we are in the middle of summer I decided to wear it with white. I chose to wear it with my white fit and flare skirt, but it would work just as well with white pants or shorts. I have always liked mixing stripes with prints, so when I saw this blue and white stripe tank top at Target I knew it would look great with this jacket.
Last but not least I added one of our beautiful pearl necklaces with fringe, my tan mules and my favorite tan Prada bag that I have had for a few years.
